Rice, Jr.Stewart Rice has more than 35 years of professional experience, including designing, organizing, and directing large, population-based national and sub-national sample surveys; designing and developing survey questionnaires and other related data collection instruments; and conceiving, planning, and directing methodological and evaluation studies related to data collection methods. He has designed and implemented automated data collection methods such as computer-assisted personal or telephone interviewing (CAPI/CATI) and has developed and implemented health surveillance data systems. Mr. Rice has also gained expertise in community health services planning through Healthy Community 2000 Model Standards and providing technical assistance to State and local area health-based activities tracking progress toward Healthy People 2000 Objectives. He received a B.A. degree in Economics from Howard University in 1976 and has completed graduate course work in Health Policy and Management at Harvard University (1981), in Public Administration at the University of Southern California (1981–1982), and in Epidemiology at the University of Virginia (1985).
