John Nagoski

Mr. Nagoski has more than 30 years of experience in housing analysis, formula grant allocation, and data development, including 19 years as a manager in the Office of Community Planning and Development at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), followed by 2 years with Fannie Mae's Housing Impact division. For HUD’s Community Development Block Grant program, Mr. Nagoski was part of an Econometrica team that analyzed how well prime grantees were managing the work of subrecipients. He has also analyzed the data, computer systems, and statistical analysis associated with HUD's Housing Choice Voucher program. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, he handled database management aspects of the disaster housing assistance program to help communicate with affected public housing authorities and identify available housing for displaced residents.

As a researcher, Mr. Nagoski has extensive experience in the use of U.S. Census data to support formula grant allocations for “distressed area” or other designations. He has distilled U.S. Census data to support analysis of affordable housing needs by local area. Mr. Nagoski holds a B.S., Mathematics, from Marquette University, which is augmented by a Master's degree in Urban Affairs from St. Louis University.
