LABOR

Impact analyses of proposed health and safety regulations
Occupational Safety and Health Administration

Econometrica supports the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) by conducting regulatory impact analyses that assess the benefits, technological and financial feasibility, and economic impacts of proposed health and safety regulations and their alternatives. Data collection and analysis activities under the contract include: (1) determining the technological and financial feasibility, compliance costs, and economic impacts of a proposed regulation and its alternatives; (2) estimating the benefits and relative cost-effectiveness of a potential regulatory action; (3) projecting the consequences of compliance for both large and small firms; (4) assessing the environmental impacts of a proposed regulatory action; (5) conducting methodological studies useful to OSHA in the development of health and safety regulations; and (6) reviewing, evaluating, and/or updating economic studies proposed by OSHA or other parties.
